We're all fans of trans-seasonal dressing here at Irish Tatler HQ. And with the weather acting the way it is, it seemed only fitting that we were to preview the AW18 range from COS on one of the greyest days of April so far. In a private residence in Sandymount, Dublin 4, fashion eds gathered amidst rows of crisp white hangers displaying the autumn offering from the brand. (Fun fact: COS is an acronym for Collection of Style.) What's new? Volume is key, but a more reserved approach (think a sleeve that balloons solely at the elbow, or a pair of trousers with a just-so wide leg), natural earthen tones are key and, as usual, technical fabrics are go – a thermo-reactive cotton jacket in titanium grey being a stand out star for technical innovation.

1. The Colour Palette

Natural is the colour story of the season with green and brown taking centre stage, while hints of sulphur yellow, low-key lilac and dashes of white make the cut too.

2. The Trousers of Dreams

Behold! Your soon-to-be pant of the season. These felted wool trousers would look equally as perfect with a band T-shirt as a luxe white shirt.

3. The Gloves

Love it or loathe it, dramatically ladylike gloves are going to be everywhere for autumn. However, if this all feels a little too feminine for you, think along the lines of 'What would Demna Gvasalia at Balenciaga do' and wear yours with a modern spin. (Our vote is to pair them with denim and a structured trench, just FYI.)

4. The Slip Dress

A slip dress for autumn? Yes, really. Don't worry, it's meant to be strategically layered with knitwear and other fabrics for an ultra-interesting look.

5. The Mix and Match Fabrics

Felt wool, geometric cut-out knits, transparent silk and moleskin trousers - this collection is a feast for the senses.
