Just when we thought afternoon tea was hitting peak luxe, Brown Thomas upped the game by introducing this gin-supplemented menu at its Dublin store.
Major first world problem alert: should you spend your Saturday afternoon getting some essential shopping in, have a catch up over gin cocktails with friends or indulge in a spot of afternoon tea? Answer: all three, now that Dublin's Brown Thomas has teamed up with Bombay Sapphire to bring us the most gin-soaked offering yet.
The beautifully botanical Bombay Sapphire (distinctive for its blue bottle) is lending its flavour to a menu of Lambay Island crab crostini, macaroons with organic Irish salmon and goat's cheese croquettes with ginger and chestnut cream. If it's a sweet treat you're after, the Star of Bombay mousse with coconut, liquid raspberry and passion fruit might tempt, or the gin-inspired creme brûlée with juniper berry.
All in all, it's the perfect, heady mix of afternoon boozing all complemented, of course, with a classic g&t from the Bombay range. Available from €35, the tea is held at The Restaurant by Johnnie Cooke every day (oh Lord, help us) from now until 17 June.
