The Relax and Revive Facial at Edvard & Pink
This facial combines targeted anti-ageing products with specific massage techniques – the best we’ve experienced in a while – that aim to provide a smooth complexion and soothed state of mind. And soothe it did, after a thorough cleanse, exfoliation, repair treatment mask and serum application, we floated, rather than walked out of the room. Fans of essential oils will love the in-house brand, Aromatherapy Associates.

Spapas at The Spa at The Marker
An ingenious idea from one of Dublin’s top spas, Spapas at The Marker Hotel caters specifically for those looking for high quality, express treatments that give results. You can choose from a host of 15 and 30 minute options encompassing everything from eyelash tints to waxes, polishes, massages and facial peels. We opted for the half-hour back massage, which uses the gorgeous Kerstin Florian range of essential oils and body products. A perfect unwinder, we felt all of the benefits of a full treatment with less of the grogginess that can accompany more lengthy sessions. A great pick-me-up and we were in and out in exactly 30-minutes as promised. Those with extra time can use the luxurious facilities of the rest of the spa too.

Express Hair and Makeup at Preen
The dilemma of a work-to-party night usually revolves around lack of time to revive our look in time to make cocktail hour. We popped to Preen with just one hour to spare and lo and behold – a thirty minute hair appointment (choose one from a menu of unfussy up-dos or a blow dry – we opted for Bedhive, a relaxed beehive/bedhead look) and thirty minute makeup refresher (which focuses on the area you’d like to perfect) and we were ready to rock and roll. Bonus points for the glass of Prosecco and mini cupcake that helped get the party started.
Express Hair and Makeup (€70/60 mins, add lashes for €10), Preen Hair and Beauty, Dame Street, Dublin 2; Tel: 01 670 8080; preendublin.ie
