As the winter months are approaching, a hearty breakfast is becoming somewhat of a necessity. From the healthy option to the full-on carb load, here are five of our favourite brunch spots in Dublin.

San Lorenzo's,Great Georges Street South: the all-rounder.

Described as a modern Italian New York style restaurant in the heart of Dublin, this restaurant boasts two brunch menus: one for the laid back weekend and one for those mid-week cravings. From more traditional poached eggs on bagels to their infamous "breakfast of champions" or Coco Pops french toast, every single plate will make your mouth water.

Nelly's, Drumcondra: for the Gilmore Girls fan.

We love the cozy atmosphere of this brunch spot, nestled in Drumcondra's Arts and Business campus. Owners described it as "the perfect refuel stop after browsing some unique hand-made crafts, organic and local food produce or even a yoga or a gym session", which sounds like a perfect weekend plan. The smoked salmon, burcher muesli and Nelly's Fish Cakes are healthy – and very tasty –options.

L'Gueuleuton1 Fade St, Dublin 2: for the Francophile.

Will it be the Steak Frites with Béarnaise and fries or the vanilla crepe with apple butter and caramelised banana? We'd say go for both! From the mouth-watering plates to the relaxed setting, L'Gueuleuton will make you feel like the heroine of a French movie. Ideal for a slow Sunday spent eating and people watching!

Meet Me in the Morning50 Pleasants St, Dublin 8: for the health nut.

Ethically sourced products, in-house baked goods, colourful greens and vegetables, this is the place to go if you're looking for a lighter brunch or a vegeterian one (don't worry though, if that is not your thing, the donuts won't let you down.) We love the Rice Bowl (warm short grain brown rice, pickles, garlicky sautéed kale, sesame and chilli crunch, pickles and pumpkin) and their scrumptious granola. Tucked away in a corner off Camden's street, this foodie nook is a great option for brunch before a long walk.

Drunch at the Marker HotelGrand Canal Square, Docklands: The show stopper.

This brunch option is not only about food, it is a full experience. Nespresso Professional is collaborating with the Marker Hotel to create a unique, Parisian-inspired experience, mixing fine dining and great tunes. The exclusive menu elaborated by Head Chef Gareth Mullins is complimented by music from renowned DJ Sally Cinnamon (fitting). A perfect place to kick-off the party season in style.
