Few people can team a stint as one of the world's top models, with a wildly successful acting career - and a side of charm and sense of social justice.
Irish actress Caitriona Balfe manages it though - and looks great doing it too!
Here are five reasons why we're big fans of the Outlander star.
1 She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty
In her role as Claire in Outlander, Caitriona has been through plenty of unglamorous situations. The cast had to go on a bootcamp back in 2015 before starting on the show, to learn how to fight and horseride.
Hats off to her though for this latest one though. When a Twitter user asked her if a fish gutting scene in the current series was real or special effects, she replied:
💯 real..! https://t.co/GXdSDBSOo9— Caitriona Balfe (@caitrionambalfe) November 27, 2018
2 She's a charity patron
Caitriona has lent her face to a series of t-shirts to raise funds for the World Child Cancer charity. She’s pictured as Outlander’s Claire and says of the designs: “I’ve been inspired by Claire’s Love, Bravery and Strength and the Brave Strong Love of women everywhere this year."
3 She’s got serious fashion credentials
Before becoming an actress, Caitriona spent many years as a model, having been spotted by a Ford Models scout in Dublin. At the age 18, she was walking for Chanel, Moschino, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton, to name a few.
Once ranked in the top 20 models in the world, she has appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and, of course, Irish Tatler (twice!).
4 Her on-screen chemistry and off-screen friendship with co-star Sam Heughan
Fans of Outlander always talk of the incredible spark between Claire and Jamie (played by Scot, Sam Heughan). While many would hope the romance would spill off screen, the pair are strictly friends – but what a friendship it is! Endless clips of the duo laughing and teasing each other show just how close they are.
5 She’s not afraid to get behind a cause she believes in
The Monaghan woman was one of a number of prominent Irish celebrities who took to their social media channels earlier this year. She was vocal in her support for Ireland’s referendum to repeal the eighth amendment and introduce safe, legal abortion.

The 8th amendment in Ireland is harmful to women and I t violates women’s right to bodily integrity and self determination. It is a draconian law that puts women’s lives in danger. I respect your right to not want an abortion if it is against your religion or just not a personal choice you would make, but to hold every woman in Ireland to the same religious belief is unjust and inhumane. Women should be trusted to make the right decision for THEMSELVES. A personal, private decision, that no one, especially not the state should be weighing in on. That is why I FULLY support the @repealproject @repeal8thglobal @together4yes
