Ashley Graham Throws Out The Maternity Dressing Rule Book For NYFW

Why wear a glorified sack when you can look absolutely stylish instead?

Essentially a mood board for when I'm pregnant...

The words 'maternity clothes' can make a pregnant woman - or any woman for that matter - squirm.

The notion of swapping your everyday style for shapeless 'mumsy' ensembles that you'll only wear for nine months is a massively outdated concept. Just because you’re expecting doesn’t mean you don’t have the right to dress well, am I right?

Forget muumuus, empire lines and baggy tops because Ashley Graham is here to renounce all notions of how a pregnant person 'should' dress their bump. Instead, the model embracing the bodycon and we are thrilled about it.

In recent weeks, the Nebraska-born star has begun to showcase her 'maternity wardrobe' in a myriad of textures and prints ranging from PVC and lace to polka dots and leopard print. Oh, and 6-inch stilettos.

Proving there’s no need to sacrifice your own personal style just because there’s a baby on the way, Graham is throwing out the rulebook when it comes to pregnancy and maternity style, and here are her best looks.

The mother-to-be opted for a cherry red PVC dress by specialist latex brand Vex Clothing alongside a pair of strappy Jimmy Choo heels.

Wearing a custom-made gown by 16 Arlington, featuring a marabou feather hem, Ashley Graham attends the Harper's BAZAAR celebrates 'ICONS By Carine Roitfeld' party in New York.

Sitting front row at NYFW, the model dressed her bump in a 1950s-inspired polka dot midi dress to the Christian Siriano SS20 show.

Graham strutted her stuff in six-inch heels and a thigh-slit during the Tommy Hilfiger and Zendaya's SS20 show.

This is not the first time Graham has decided to break down the taboos surrounding motherhood, after announcing her pregnancy over a month ago, the supermodel took to Instagram mere days later posting a picture of her naked body, showing off and celebrating her stretch marks. "Same, same but a little different," she wrote.

The comments on the picture were overwhelmingly positive, with fans praising Graham for publicly representing what it's like to be a plus-sized woman experiencing pregnancy.
