Happy skin, happy self

Praise be! Today marks the day Jamie Kern Lima's best selling beauty brand launches exclusively at Arnotts and we're excited.

IT Cosmetics is finally here and we beelined straight for the new counter in Arnotts - the only stockist in Ireland - to get a first look.

The billion dollar brand is one of L'Oréal's top acquisitions in the last few years and is a constant in the top ten of US cosmetic companies. Key product in the range is the Your Skin But Better CC cream with an anti-acing serum and SPF50+ - obviously, we took it upon ourselves to investigate the 'no filter needed' product further.

It Cosmetics describes the CC Cream as a multi-functional moisturiser, anti-aging serum, sunscreen, and foundation and with a 4.2 (out of 5) rating from 59 people on MakeupAlley, maybe it delivers?

Let's discuss in more detail, shall we?

It Cosmetics' CC cream quickly became one of the brand's cult products thanks to its high coverage and hydrating formula, with the bonus of SPF50+. Following that success, they added to the beloved CC range, with the addition of 'illumination' aka light-reflecting pigments, to give the skin radiance without any shimmer or shine.

The OG CC cream (also known as color correcting cream or complexion corrector cream) is typically a pinch thicker in consistency than BB cream, but thinner and dewier than a liquid foundation. Personally, I'm a fan of super glowy bases, so Illumination CC sounded like my ideal summer go-to.

Shade & Formulation:

The multifunctional base comes in seven shades from Fair to Deep, and is formulated with a goodness cocktail of peptides, antioxidants, and collagen to work on improving your skin, rather than simply masking your concerns with makeup.

The review:

It takes a lot for a base product to worm its way into our already laden collection, but these are seriously impressive. Staff Ed Amy Heffernen  picked the Your Skin But Better CC Cream in the metallic pink tubed Illumination variation as a clear winner for her slightly dry skin.

"In terms of coverage, I'd say 'medium' with just one swipe of my buffing brush, but it can be built up to high if layered over troublesome areas or made more sheer using fingers. I did follow up with concealer under my eyes, but more out of habit than anything else.

"The application was smooth, the texture is really creamy and feels luxurious on the skin. The finish is dewy, with a bit of sheen but nothing overly offensive in the shimmer stakes. 8-hours or so of wear.

Overall, my skin looked fresh and healthy, but not too made up. Plus, I can't help but feel smug and proud that I now wear an SPF 50+ every day."

Pop into the ever-growing Arnotts beauty hall and have a look at the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ for yourself, it's exclusive to them.
