It's time to cool down.
It’s safe to say that the novelty of this heatwave is starting to wear off.
Constant perspiration and thick humidity make for a sweaty mix. If you get an especially red face, that’s actually another attempt by your body to cool things down. Blood being directed to the surface of your skin works as a sort of radiator, helping you lose heat faster. As for sweat, that too is your body's attempt to cool down but it can actually do more harm. It feels sticky and slimy, and your skin can start to feel parched from water loss and lack of hydration.
If you're prone to dehydration, dryness or a complexion akin to something like a desert, a hydrating mask can be a real saviour - especially in the summer.
From deeply nourishing overnight treatments to fast acting on-the-go formulations to prep skin before makeup, there are lots of options out there. With parched, overheated summer skin a familiar concern in Irish Tatler HQ, the team can vouch for this edit of hydrating and cooling heroes:

A truly delicious overnight treat that smells incredible. It’s packed with skincare ingredients including Persian silk tree to brighten and rosehip and cranberry seed oils to nourish. A little goes a long way and we’ve seen it restore parched, dull skin by morning.

An intense mask from the cult French skincare band. The deeply moisturising formula, with hyaluronic acid, vitamins and sweet almond oil, works to restore the skin’s protective barrier. (Irish Tatler Managing Ed, Sarah, also uses the classic Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentrate as a parched-skin treat.)
