16 Easy Ways To Style Your Hair For Every Christmas Party This Year

PSA: Your office Christmas party is coming up.

It's party season all year round, but our calendars get especially full when the holidays roll around.

Christmas party season has arrived – and at the worst possible time for your wallet. After last week's 'just popping in for tights' turned into a €200 shopping spree and this week's Secret Santa did a number on your bottom line, you have two options: politely decline all fun party invites, or go, but spend zero euro on the prep.

Here's the plan: repeat your favourite LBD, dig up those party heels and cancel your salon appointment. A little texture spray and a few well-placed clips or a satin bow is all you need to add some festive flair to your hair without leaving your bathroom, and more importantly, without spending a single cent.

To get your wheels turning, we scrolled through the Instagrams of celebrity stylists for head-turning hairstyles fit for every occasion. Whether you're getting ready for a fancy ball or a low-key house party with your friends, these party hairstyles will do you from now to New Year's Eve, and every party in between.

Old HOLLYWOOD CURLS

The best way to achieve, old Hollywood curls are with a brushed-out curl set as celeb stylist Gregory Russel did so beautifully on Lily Collins. This classic style works on every occasion.

HALO BRAID

Give off major angelic vibes this festive season with this stunning halo braid with gold string. Don’t forget to secure your bun with a few hair clips and spritz on some hairspray to keep everything in place.

a slight bouffant

Instead of slicking your hair down all the way, stop at the crown and add a slight bouffant just because. Wood mentioned he used John Frieda products to master this look, and we're imagining some of this Frizz Ease Extra Strength Hair Serum was used.

Between Christmas shopping, wrapping gifts and the fact you still have to work even though it's Christmas, it can be hard to find time to wash your hair. Luckily, wet hair is still very much in for 2020. Forget the hair gel and set your strands with the cool setting on your hairdryer. You'll easily achieve the hairstyle as seen here on Jenna Dewan.

BOW DOWN

Here's a life hack: Save your gift ribbons. Why? They look just as good in your hair—especially velvet ones. Wood chose a classic middle-part pony that he accentuated with a black velvet ribbon. Chic.

TOP KNOT

Give your topknot extra feels with curly tendrils. This picturesque style is perfect for any party.

PEARL ACCENT

Lupita's pearl-encrusted faux locs remind us that accessories go beyond jewellery. Pearl bobby pins are relatively easy to find and offer a low maintenance approach to holiday hair.

big curls

The bigger the curls the better the party? Could be a stretch. But what's not a stretch are these sky-high, Diana Ross–inspired ringlets on supermodel Jourdan Dunn.

the up-do

Pins and updos just go together and are especially appropriate for a party. Lucy Hale's loose updo coupled with these metallic bobby pins makes this simple style look so avant-garde.

TINSEL HAIR

It is a common objective every Christmas to devise new and innovative ways to coat the body in sparkles. Sequin skirts in the office, dangling earrings for the gym – whatever! You must do everything it takes to shimmer all month long. Now, tinsel hair is back to help you sparkle through the festivities.

A MODERN LOB

Sure, it might feel like you don’t have a ton of styling options when you’re working with a lob, but it’s actually beyond easy to switch up a shorter haircut for the holidays. Go for an off-centre part, bump the ends with a straightener, snap on a clip, and boom—you’re good to go.

The POM-POM Pony

Pulling the hair back can seem a bit unimaginative, but with style like this, you won't have to worry about being too simplistic.

After “What are you wearing tonight?” the most common text in my phone before a night out is “Wait, should I wear my hair up or down?” Instead of going back and forth with your group chat on what looks better with your outfit, do both. A half-up, half-half down look is super chic and won’t take you hours to pull together. Before you head out, spritz on a flexible-hold hairspray to keep your holiday hairstyle in place.

The 2019 headband has had a makeover and it is oversized and kind of padded. It's like upholstery for your hair if that makes sense. Red is a clear front runner, but black and nude are also making their rounds (you can wear any colour you like, though. See the gorgeous Elnaz, Tanaz and Gonaz above for inspo).

90'S PONY

Highschool cheerleader, but make it fashion. Take a cue from Jorja Smith’s book and try out a snatched high ponytail at your Christmas party this year. Leave an extra strand hair out from your pony which you can braid and wrap around to give it an elevated feel.

jUST CLIP IT

Nothing says holiday hair more than bejewelled snowflake hair accessories. Celebrity stylist Kristin Ess took Lauren Conrad's curls to another level when she adorned them with clips from Jennifer Behr and Lelet NY
