Makeup artists and bloggers have hit the refresh button on this classic 1960s eye look.
The floating eyeliner trend is nothing new to the beauty world.
Originally a style made iconic by supermodel Twiggy in the 1960s, the style has now resurfaced and is set to be the makeup trend of the summer.
Although the sheer idea of creating this look whilst sat on a bus with a compact mirror and eyeliner in hand sounds ludicrous – it's both quirky enough for the festival season ahead and chic enough as the perfect accessory for a night out.

The 60s liner trend has slowly but surely been building towards a resurgence ever since Lucy Boynton wore the look at the 2019 SAG awards.
Since then, we've seen everyone from Kim Kardashian to Lady Gaga all embrace the trend.

Now, floating eyeliner has reached Instagram with makeup artists and beauty bloggers hitting the refresh button on the once-vintage style.
The iterations sweeping Instagram now are fresh, modern and wonderfully minimal - a refreshing change to heavily blended eye looks typical to the platform.
While it may seem like an art form exclusive to professionals, the secret to achieving the floating liner trend is in how you position your head (similar to the pose you make when applying fake eyelashes).
Draw it too high and you've found a cheaper alternative to botox, draw it too low and well, that's just a cat-eye.
Below, is all the inspiration you need to master the floating liner trend.
If You're Still Emotionally Attached To Your Cat Eye
If You Like To Keep Things Vintage
If Precision Isn't Your Best Asset
If You're Not Ready To Give Up Your Eyeshadow Just Yet
If You Enjoy The Finer Things In Life
If Your Craft And Makeup Bag Are The Same Thing
If You Just Can't Get Enough
#IT TIP: use a lightly coloured kohl pencil to trace your outline, once perfected - trace over with a felt tip liner.
