America's Best-Selling Hair Treatment Is Coming To Ireland

One bottle is sold every minute in the U.S.

It doesn't just work - it works wonders.

Whether it's lockdown fringes, mallen streaks or shag haircuts - it's safe to say this past year has seen many a hair trend. While these hairstyles tend to come and go, there is one particular style that is on the top of everyone's list - no matter their hair type, style or texture. And that's shiny, glossy, silky hair.

You know the one, it's the type of hair you see on the catwalks where the lights bounce off the models' shiny, shiny strands. It's the type of hair you see on shampoo commercials that makes you immediately run out and buy it. It's the type of hair you experience when you leave the salon after a cut and style. It's soft, shiny, and full of body. There's just something so satisfying about running your fingers through super-silky locks. Be it the tangle-free feel or the way it glistens mid-flip, everyone wants locks that glisten with light. But unlike lockdown fringes and mallen streaks, it's not so easy to obtain and even harder to maintain.

Until now...

L'oréal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths 8 Second Wonder Water has finally made its way onto Irish soil. For the uninitiated, Dream Lengths Wonder Water is a cult product in America - with one selling every minute. What makes it so sought after? Well, it holds the ability to transform even the dullest and lack-lustre locks into silky, shiny hair. The product helps to soften, hydrate and detangle strands in just 8 seconds. Yes, really.

We use the word "product" as we're not quite sure how to describe it. It's not a conditioner, but you do use it in place of one in the shower. To call it a "treatment" is confusing as it only stays on your strands for a matter of seconds. It isn't even technically correct to call it "a water" as the name implies as it doesn't actually contain any water. It is, in fact, a lamellar fluid. What is "lamellar", you ask? It's within the answer that you'll find out what makes this formula so special.

Lamellar technology works similarly to micellar water — which uses micelles to trap dirt and remove it from the surface of the skin — but in the opposite way. Instead, the Lamellar technology delivers active ingredients called "lamelles" throughout your hair, however, the lamelles only target the areas along the hair cuticle that need to be repaired. They do this not through magic, but through chemistry: the positive charges of the lamelles attract to the negative charges of damaged areas of hair, delivering the hair-coddling active ingredients to repair the hair fibre exactly where it's needed. The cosmetic result is that your hair is shinier, softer, and silkier without being weighed down.

What's more, it doesn't require a lengthy-wait time or hands of a specialist to apply it either. After you've shampooed your hair in the shower, reach for Dream Lengths Wonder Water instead of your conditioner. With the bottle’s precise nozzle, the formula dosage can be tailored to different hair types. Those with fine hair should use one dose and those with thick or curly hair between two and three doses, with a further dose added for extra-long hair. Simply coat your strands with the recommended dosage and then massage it in for eight seconds. And just like that, you can rinse it away. No need to follow up with any other product either. Thought it couldn't get any better? It can be used on all hair types and textures too.

And if one bottle selling every minute in the U.S. isn't enough to convince you, all it takes is a browse through its reviews on Amazon to convince you otherwise:

"The best way I can describe the overall effect is to say that it gives my hair that fresh-from-the-salon feeling. You know, the one that helps you justify spending $40 or more on a blowout," wrote one user.

"My hair has stayed shiny and soft for four or five days after a single application," wrote another.

"I truly couldn’t have been happier with the results or more impressed that this was an at-home and affordable treatment. Wonder Water lives up to its name." another wrote.

L'oréal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths 8 Second Wonder Water will be available from supermarkets and pharmacies across Ireland from March.
