Fully comprehensive and entirely reliable.
With growing interest in skincare as of late bringing the rise to affordable yet often indecipherable products – The Ordinary, we're looking at you – it's high time that a skincare dictionary of sorts is created to share its wealth of knowledge to the masses.
Look no further than revered beauty brand Paula’s Choice, whose team have compiled the Ingredient Dictionary.
Listing 1,796 ingredients, the Ingredient Dictionary details every possible ingredient one could find, what they do and then finally categorises them as best, good, average or poor.
Retinol, for example, is listed as the "Name for the entire vitamin A molecule.
"Retinol is a powerhouse ingredient that has value for skin on several fronts: It’s a skin-restoring, wrinkle-smoothing, firming ingredient and an antioxidant, allowing it to improve a variety of skin concerns, most related to visible signs of ageing."
While rose oil is described as "Non-fragrant emollient plant oil that has antioxidant properties and is a rich source of skin-beneficial fatty acids."
