Today, February 4 is World Cancer Day, and the great cause is in need of some support.
World Cancer Day is marked on February 4 each year to raise awareness of the disease and to encourage people to check for potential signs and take preventative measures.
Every 3 minutes in Ireland someone gets a cancer diagnosis. Every hour someone dies from cancer. In Ireland alone, more 40,000 new cases of cancer or related tumours are diagnosed each year.
The most common cancers in Ireland for women are, in order, skin, breast, gynae and lung. Awareness of symptoms is important as patients diagnosed at an early stage are more likely to survive due to different treatment being available at a premature stage.
Once you've read up on the disease, checked yourself out, and spread the message on social media, get shopping to donate to the cause.
