Let's Get Personal: The Monogram Is Having a Moment (Again)

The luggage game has been upped in recent decades, given the dawn of Instagram. But – without dropping thousands – how does one personalise their wares by way of affordability?

Long gone are the days when tatty suitcases will do for a weekend away.

Ever since the dawn of Louis Vuitton luggage, bulky and dust-covered hand baggage has received the luxury treatment thanks to Supreme, Gucci and Balenciaga.

However, is it wise to drop multiple paychecks on a vessel with the sole use of being chucked onto a luggage belt? That's something we're still grappling with.

In the meantime, something more affordable may prove sufficient.

Enter, Azurina – the accessories brand specialising in luxury leather goods at an affordable price point. The brand was created by a handful of fashion-forward women who yearned for personalised pieces that would be just as home on the beach as it would in work.

"Perfectly seasonless, personalisable pieces that aren't solely influenced by passing trends, but real, fabulous women. Designs in divine palettes you can mix, match, and monogram, that sit in and amongst your cherished designer babies, and slip seamlessly from spring to winter, from home to meeting, to airport, to far-flung beach."

Price ranges from €11 for phone cases to €105 for leather totes. In between these realms, prices range for makeup bags, pouches, cross body bags and beaded shoppers.

Monogramming your order is free of charge – something the people behind the brand are hugely proud of. Not since the early nineties has emblazoning your name across your material items been so popular – and Azurina has made it all the easier to get involved.

Each Azurina item is designed to be monogrammed with up to FOUR characters, for free via a process called hot foiling, which is carried out by hand on a professional machine, letters are debossed (indented) onto each 100% leather piece using either gold or silver foil.

Their standard font and size is Serif 36pt, in both upper and lower case. Of course, opting out is totally acceptable, too.

But, for those keen to emboss their pieces with their name, the possibility of owning something that quite literally no one in the vicinity owns is finally yours.
