If The Rumours Are True, There Could Be A Fourth Bridget Jones On The Way

We mean Bridget Jones herself just confirmed the news...

Helen Fielding has written a fourth book.

It's been three years since the third Bridget Jones film came out - we'll just leave you with that for a minute.

Ever since Bridget Jones's Baby, It's no secret that fans were less than impressed with Bridget Jones's Baby. The world waited so long for an ending to the hapless heroine's story that three films just didn't seem satisfying.

Ever since there have been calls for a fourth. But will there be a Bridget Jones 4 or are we destined to forever wonder what happened to Bridget after she finally married Mark Darcy and had his baby?

Well, according to Bridget herself, Renée Zellweger a fourth Bridget Jones could be on the cards.

Speaking to Red Magazine in a recent interview, she said:

I don’t think Bridget ever really leaves. She’s always there, particularly if I have a live television event or red carpet. And I love her – she makes me laugh. I mean, she’s always a delight.

Commenting on the possibility of a fourth Bridget Jones film, she said

I mean, if that’s what Helen [Fielding, the author] wants to do, it sounds fun.

She also added that she has a special relationship with London - Bridget's hometown 'Every time I come back [to London] it feels like a homecoming. And it’s easy, I mean, the geese on The Serpentine are the only thing I worry about – they can stand their ground. But using the Tube is really easy. It’s all really easy, I think, if you just look normal. [I wear] gym gear. I look like I’m going to the gym most of the time, and nobody even looks in my direction.'

This is not the first time Zellweger has teased a fourth Bridget Jones film. In May, she admitted that she would ‘go running [to them]’ if she was asked to reprise her role in the iconic franchise. And, revealing that our dreams might come true sooner than we think, the 50-year-old also let slip that Helen Fielding has already written a fourth book.

While appearing on The Talk, Renée joked the film would be titled ‘Bridget Jones: The Menopause’. But, reassuring us, she added, ‘No, I know Helen’s [Fielding] written the book, and I love this character. So, I mean, if they call me, I’ll go running.’

While you, I and the rest of the world wait for some new Bridget, Renée's most recent thriller TV series What/If has become a Netflix hit. And she is also set to star in the upcoming Judy Garland biopic Judy.
