It goes without saying lighting is critical for creating a productive office space. I always use a mix of task and decorative lighting to make a space functional yet warm.
Plan your office space; it’s so important to get the basics right and then create the vibe from there. Position your desk away from direct sunlight, ensuring you have ample amounts of shelving to get organised or enough space to add an additional table and chairs if you want to mix it up away from the desk.
It’s always nice to add some personality to your office space whether it is a pin
board with all of your ideas or motivational quotes, family photos, images or vinyl wall art. Plants bring freshness and thoughtfulness to the space. I love displaying sculptural objects and items I collect on my travels, they ground me and help create a unique look.
More is more! I personally have a clear desk policy in my home office and in our design studio. At the end of every day, everyone tidies their stuff away ensuring they come to a clear space the next morning. In order to do this you need storage and a range of it. Pinterest often has great ideas for creating storage hacks.
This is definitely a personal preference but I always have music on in our office. It creates ambience and focus. When we have the radio on in the studio, topics come up during the day for the team to discuss... even if it is just to complain about the amount of Ed Sheeran being played!
