This Men's Drugstore Eye Gel Is The Best Thing To Happen To My Dark Circles

Dark circles? I no longer know her.

Not just for men...

There's a lot of interesting things I've tried in the name of beauty: face vinegar at-home LED light therapy, even jellyfish goo that promised me eternal youth. Some have blown my expectations out of the water, while others I'd rather not speak about. But part of the fun of being a beauty writer is always being open to new things, especially at the recommendation of others.

So when I saw my male best friend raving about the Kennedy & Co Revitalising Eye Gel on Instagram, saying it had banished his dark circles (which judging by his selfies, it has) it gave me an idea for my next instalment in bizarre things I've done for beauty's sake.

As a fellow sufferer of dark circles, this struck a chord. I've always understood men's skincare to be tailored to a thicker skin, but at €14.95, I thought I'd throw caution to the wind and give it a go, because even if it didn't work (which, I'll be honest, I expected) at least I hadn't wasted that much money. Just one use was all it took for me to make a call, and it's safe to say I was hooked.

A quick read of the ingredients list and I realised just what kind of superpower this eye gel holds. Specially formulated for the delicate eye area, the gel contains Pro-Vitamin D to de-puff, Vitamin E to fight against free radicalshyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and caffeine to eliminate the appearance of dark circles.  Oh, and it's cruelty-free.

The first time I gave it a go, I used my ring finger to gently pat the product around my eye area before I moisturised. It's a little slippery to start, but within in seconds, it glides onto the skin and gets to work.

Under my eyes felt smooth, hydrated and refreshed as I went about my other five skincare steps. So far, so good. But being the sceptic I am, I gave the eye gel two weeks until I passed judgement. Low and behold, my dark circles are as close to vanishing as I believe is genetically possible.

All in all, this has convinced me that beauty shouldn't always be confined to male or female, mostly because it seems unfair not to share something this good around.

And speaking of sharing, we are giving one lucky reader the chance to win a grooming set worth over €60 consisting of the Kennedy & Co Peat Face Scrub, Kennedy & Co SPF 20 Daily Moisturiser, Kennedy & Co Hydrating Beard Oil (you may have to give that to a man in your life or keep it for yourself, this is a bizarre beauty instalment after all), Kennedy & Co Matte Hair Clay and the holy grail product that is the Kennedy & Co Revitalising Eye Gel.

Sorry, the promotion closed a couple of weeks ago and the winner has been contacted. Don’t worry, you’re still a winner to us. We have loads of other competitions running on the site every Wednesday.
