As The New Fashion Season Fast Approaches, Team Irish Tatler Set Their AW Wardrobe Resolutions

So much newness, so hard to commit....

From being more smartening up to embracing the 70s, these are the pledges Team Irish Tatler are making as a brand new season looms...

Ah September, fashion's New Year. With those fresh beginnings feelings and anything's possible attitudes, it's the perfect time to shed some old sartorial skins and make definitive changes to your daily dressing uniform.

AW is our fashion season in Ireland - the one when we get to show our style prowess and the one actually spending money on too. So, with that, our editorial team is making a pledge to each try something different this AW '19. Less about trends, but rather giving our existing wardrobe added dimension via a fresh reference point or one key splurge.

Come follow us into the unchartered territory of the new season and see what wardrobe resolutions we're making... and hopefully sticking to over the next few months.

A bit atypical for autumn, I'm going to embrace yellow as my new neutral; steering away from sunflower shades to a super-pale, almost cream variation as well-demonstrated on the runway at Lemaire and Lanvin.

I'll wear it with shades of ecru and brilliant white and - hopefully - with my ultimate It piece of the season, a luxurious cream blazer. When I finally track down the perfect one, of course!

The switch to the new AW season, for me, aligns with me moving house. I appreciate that this fact is interesting to nobody but me, but it does mean that I have a double whammy of an excuse to clear out my wardrobe and start afresh.

After a summer spent in ditsy florals, airy dresses and chunky Tevas, I'm looking forward to being a little more grown-up and sophisticated in my sartorial choices – without taking the fun out of dressing completely. More dramatic tailoring for sure but, like how the Copenhagen-Set does it.

SS '19 saw my first foray into colour and prints... heck, clashing prints. Ensembles Dolly & Pandora would be proud of, but I’m ready now to retire my prairie dresses for something a little more tailored.
For AW '19, my intention is French-girl cool with a wardrobe of staples that’ll last me 'till spring. Dual boot options - one angle, one knee. A long black duster coat and some crisp white shirts to wear over jeans. Simple and styled comme les françaises.

My new wardrobe resolution is to embrace the seventies, warts and all. Am hoping to pick up some vintage flares/blazers and get to grips with plaid *insert Farrah Fawcett hair here*.

For AW19, and life in general, I'm on the lookout for a good shearling and white cowboy boots. On the daily, I am always a jeans/tee kind of person; so, vintage tees and blue jeans FTW.

Far from the Insta-cool-girls and 70's popstars I usually seek sartorial inspiration from Lil Nas X is out here effortlessly giving me much more than I could ever ask for or deserve. At the VMAs, he served up a Christian Cowan designed look with P.S. Kaufman boots that were as if the Ghost of Prince came back as a Space Diva and all I could do when I saw this look was scream, "I would die 4 U."

I have decided that when I get this ensemble - and I will get this ensemble - I will wear it when I'm doing the washing up or maybe to work on a Tuesday. See, the thing about Lil Nas X wear is that you can rock your best ensemble every day, all day. For now, though, I'll just invest in this black denim western shirt...

I'm really looking forward to this AW season, as I always feel ill-prepared for a hot-girl summer given Ireland's not so tropical climate. My wardrobe is designed for all kinds of windy, rainy and freezing weather and I feel it's about time to break out a faux-fur winter coat.

This season I am so excited to try out the trenchcoat trend with a sleek hairband for a composed yet still stylish look. Also, if I could source a vintage shoulder bag I feel all of my fashion dreams would come true. I'm looking forward to the certainty of picking an outfit in preparation for outside's chilly appearance and to not be sweltering from the heat that same afternoon. No more games weather, I need the definitive cold - and a trenchcoat.
