The Meghan Markle Approved Trend That Works For Every Occassion (Like Sitting On Your Couch)

It's the power shoulder for the new decade...

And, before you ask – yes it will go with your tracksuit bottoms

As we enter a new decade, fashion is all about being extra: shoes are reaching new heights (particularly our trainers) and sunglasses are no good unless they’re covering half our face. Statement sleeves – a persistent micro-trend over the last few seasons – are no different, though for 2020 they’re taking big and bold to a whole new level, or so said the SS'20 runways.

From Khaite, Brock Collection and Mara Hoffman in New York to Simone Rocha and Rejina Pyo in London right through to the drama of Alexander McQueen in Paris, dramatic statement sleeves were seen in full force on the catwalks in all shapes, forms, and fabrics, including romantic ruffles, sheer materials, striking colours, and playful prints.

Don't believe us? Well, maybe you'll believe Meghan Markle. Proving once again that she is style icon after our own heart wearing one of the biggest trends for spring 2020 – a puffed sleeve top. On one of her last official royal duties, Meghan visited the National Theatre in an impeccably chic all-white ensemble that included a stunning ivory organza blouse. Though her pencil skirt may have been Roland Mouret and her shoes Aquazzura, her headline-grabbing top came from high-street stalwart Topshop.
