Spanish footballer Héctor Bellerín is set to launch his first menswear collection with H&M this month.
Edition by Héctor Bellerín is a modern, wearable collection of new wardrobe essentials, with a relaxed style that nods to how we live now. The Arsenal star was involved throughout the design process and the collection is very much focused on sustainability as much as style.
The cotton used in the collection is organic, or recycled from textile production waste; nylons and polyesters are recycled, and viscose fibres are from sustainable sources. Bellerín was also keen to ensure that, where possible, pieces were made from single materials, to make them easier to recycle.
“Fashion is like activism, and our clothes can spread a positive message to others,” says Bellerín. “I am happy to collaborate with H&M on this collection entirely made from sustainably sourced materials, and to push for a better future for fashion and the planet.”
The collection reflects Bellerín's own style with an understated palette of natural, earth tones such as khaki, stone grey and sage, and shapes that include relaxed oversized streetwear and sharp utilitarian essentials. Graphic tees add a touch of fun and colour and tap into the range’s eco-conscious ethos.
There are clever design touches too - an oversized parka has concealed hood, a beige blazer has an unstructured silhouette that gives it wider wearability, while zip-off cargo pants can quickly be transformed into shorts.
Edition by Héctor Bellerín will be available on hm.com from 18 February.
