Kate Middleton is no stranger to luxurious outerwear.
From her love of Gianvito Rossi to her penchant for McQueen, the Duchess of Cambridge has shown time and time again that opulent outfits can be as dressed up or as dressed down as one likes.
However, that doesn't mean she won't wear an affordable piece.
For Kate Middleton's most affordable looks, she turns to retailers like Zara and J.Crew, regularly mixing high and low pieces to create the perfect outfit. Her high-low approach to dressing was on full display on Thursday, April 9 as she wore a Zara yellow knitted jumper (alas, already sold out) as she, like the rest of the world, embraces above-the-waist-dressing. Alongside Prince William, the pair had their first virtual royal visit. William and Kate joined students and teachers at Casterton Primary Academy—a school that is close to Burnley General Hospital and is teaching the children of key workers so that they can continue to work on the frontline.
According to fashion site Lyst, searches for statement earrings have increased since the outbreak, as they’re up 40% over the past seven days. Kate has also approached this Zoom styling trick, as she wore a pair of her favourite earrings by Catherine Zoraida.
This made us wonder about all the other times that she's worn our favourite highstreet brand. Here are pieces straight from Middleton's wardrobe that you can pick up yourself without breaking the bank.
1. Red Knitted Midi Dress

On Feb 2, Middleton was seen traipsing around the streets of South Wales with the Duke of Cambridge in a look that was nothing short of classic: a knitted red dress. The two were crossing off a long list of to-do's, including a visit to the city's lifeboat station to watch their rescue team prepare a launch. They followed the appearance at Swansea Bay with a visit to Joe's Ice Cream Parlour, where Middleton chatted with parents about her "5 Big Questions on the Under Fives" survey. Her outfit involved a playful scarf, bedecked in red and white hearts, as well as a Hobbs double-breasted coat (which has already sold out in navy).
2. Leopard Print Midi Skirt

Last week, the Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Cardiff, Wales to attend a class at the Ely and Careau Children's Centre and to speak with the parents about the services the space provides.
For the visit, the Duchess of Cambridge chose to wear a black turtleneck top and a leopard print pleated skirt from Zara. She wore a pair of Ralph Lauren black boots underneath.
Though Kate's exact skirt is sold out, a similar one can be found in New Look for €14 here.
3. Printed Houndstooth Dress

The first Zara piece Middleton wore in 2020 was this black and white, midi-length flowing dress.
However, like her skirt, it's now sold out.
The dress has a distinct pattern and design with several standout elements like puffed sleeves, and pussy-bow, but we have found excellent dupes at affordable prices.
New Look, once again, has something similar. As does Warehouse, available on ASOS.
4. Black Culottes
