Get ahead of the fashion hordes.
The fashion world is a funny one. Straddling between what's right now and what's to come, Instagram's most stylish are presently attending autumn/winter 2020 shows, probably wearing autumn/winter 2019, before even having had the chance to practise some of the styling ideas they picked up from spring/summer 2020 catwalks.
While we lay-folk will have to wait until the latter half of the year for the A/W '20 collections to drop, there were some trends at London Fashion Week that we found ourselves mentally assimilating into our current wardrobes.
From nods to sustainability to the unexpected colour-combo we're dying to try, here are our LFW-approved crib notes on which trends to invest in now and wear for seasons to come.
Roksanda
Forget pink and red. Move aside blue and maroon. Roksanda Ilinčić has once again coined a new colour pairing du-jour. Known for her typically cheerful fashion week showcases, her coupling of burnt orange and a warm brown leather had show attendees beaming under a fluorescent fishing-net installation.

WEAR:
Cassette leather cross-body bag, €1,500, Bottega Veneta at Matches - SHOP

Erdem
While Erdem Moralıoğlu's most recent offering was rammed full of gowns worthy of Kate Middleton's wardrobe – all suitably extravagant, it was his bibbed knits that caught our eye (we sadly don't have any state banquets booked in). Bonus points too, for the added velvet ribbons!

Wear:
Contrast collar knit, €29.99, Zara - SHOP

Preen by Thornton Bregazzi
Citing Nicolas Roeg’s psychological thriller, Don’t Look Now as an inspiration, the Preen couple took the brand's first steps towards sustainability by sourcing deadstock men’s tailoring fabric and making knitwear from recycled yarns. The suiting cut a contemporary, boxy shape though, with a 70's louche spin.

Wear:
Wool-blend plaid blazer, €149, & Other Stories - SHOP

Margaret Howell
While some brands might be tempted to celebrate their 50th anniversary with pomp and ceremony, Margaret Howell stuck to her guns – those clean, calm and collected guns that have seen the designer transcend the past five decades timelessly. Her penchant for quality and considered approach to design has us swooning over the classic tropes no self-respecting sustainable fashion fan should be without.

Wear:
Cotton shirt-dress, €35, Monki at Zalando - SHOP

16 Arlington
Fashion month has been awash with this particularly medically beige hue, but to earn yourself some bonus cool-girl points, wear it from head-to-toe and in buttery-soft leather, as illustrated by London-based label 16 Arlington.

Wear:
Faux leather trousers, €29.99, Zara - SHOP
