Alana\'s New York wedding was a dream

We knew it would be a difficult job and so it proved. After receiving dozens of entries in our search for Ireland’s best dressed bride this year, our judges had their work cut out from them.

From the classic to the romantic to the truly unique, each bride looked radiant on her special day. After much deliberation our judges selected their overall winner: Alana Laverty, who got married in New York earlier this year.

"I love the urban feel of Alana's NY wedding. What a cool couple,” said Sarah Macken, Managing Editor/Fashion Editor, Irish Tatler

Where: The Wine Room at The Bowery Hotel, New York City, USA

Photographer: Jon Lemon

Dress: Needle & Thread

Alana’s inspiration:

“My dress was the first and only dress I tried on. It fit like it was made for me and I knew immediately that it was The One for our New York city wedding. My granny's Irish pearls completed my wedding ensemble and were my something borrowed. She couldn't make it to New York for the wedding so this was the most special final touch.”

Alana’s style advice for brides to be:

“Try not to follow trends; find a dress that makes you feel beautiful and confident, but equally as important, that you are comfortable in. Also, never settle. You will know when you know - and when you do, everything else (shoes, accessories etc) will follow and fall into place perfectly!”

The prize:

Our best dressed bride wins a luxury stay in the 5 star Dromoland Castle in County Clare.

The judges:

Sarah Macken (née O'Hegarty), Managing Editor/Fashion Editor, Irish Tatler

Lucinda Andrews, Marketing Manager, Weir & Sons
