...they're now back in stock
From being a fan of Beyoncé to missing life before becoming a royal - it seems we have a lot more in common with Meghan Markle than we ever could have thought. Today, however, Net-A-Porter confirmed that we're very much cut from the same cloth as the Duchess of Sussex.
Cast your mind back to last year when Meghan and Harry embarked on the tour of Australia. In between visiting South Melbourne Beach and giving speeches at UN Women’s Market for Change project, it turned out that even the Duchess of Sussex can't resist a pair of clean white trainers. For the first time since officially becoming part of the royal family, Meghan Markle stepped out wearing a pair of trainers and - like the rest of her fashion choices - they were utterly chic.
As is often the case with the royals' wardrobe, Meghan’s sartorial choice went beyond simply just aesthetic reasons as she chose to highlight a sustainable shoe brand. Meghan opted to wear shoes from a French brand called Veja, which prides itself on its eco-friendly ethos and vision which "combines fair trade and ecology and links together economy, social initiatives and the environment." Her choice of Veja kicks was a little break in royal tradition, as previously royals like Kate Middleton and Princess Diana have preferred to wear Supergas and with sustainability being everyone's favourite topic of conversation, it's no surprise that the V-10 Extra White Black trainers have not left the best sellers list for Net-A-Porter.
Elizabeth Von Der Goltz, Global Buying Director at the brand revealed that Veja sales are currently up by 179 per cent and show no signs of reclining - all thanks to the Meghan effect.
Since the Duchess wore her €125 trainers last year, the shoes have repeatedly sold out, but they're finally back in stock so you can make like Meghan and snap up a pair whilst saving the environment.
