This No-Sew T-Shirt Hack Will Breathe A New Lease Of Life Into Your Wardrobe

How did we not think of this?

The good news? It's completely free. The bad news? You're going to have to wear a bra...

There's nothing that's made me feel quite so old as TikTok. Perhaps it's the energetic dances that require hours of practice or maybe it's that I just don't understand why anyone would want another social media platform to be a part of. Honestly, just leave me with my Instagram stories and an occasional tweet and I'm happy. Or at least, this was the case until I eventually caved and made a TikTok account. While I'm yet to master the aforementioned dance routines, I have discovered the wonderful world of TikTok hacks.

Some helpful (I was genuinely impressed when I tried bathrobe curls), some slightly questionable (I’ve seen one guy who was shocked that his face turned an Oompa Loompa-shade of orange after he applied turmeric to his face and left it on for ages) and some that leave me slightly curious (Does applying powder before foundation really give you flawless, filtered skin?). But the one TikTok hack that I believe to be truly life-changing is this five-second T-Shirt hack that will turn any basic tee into the now cult muscle tee by The Frankie Shop. You know the one: sleeveless, relaxed fit but with slightly oversized shoulders and a round neck.

If you didn't catch the muscle tee the first, second or third time around, Niamh Cullen has come to the rescue with this ingenious fashion hack.

Last night, she took to Instagram to share her t-shirt hack with her trusted followers – all 138 thousand of them. In a video originally posted to TikTok, she shared a step-by-step guide on how to breathe a new lease of life into your t-shirts.

You will need just two things:

  1. A T-Shirt - preferably with a mid-length sleeve.
  2. A Bra

Now before you wince at the idea of putting a bra on for the first time in nine weeks, Niamh did say that this hack works just as well with a sports bra.

Here are the steps:

  1. Put on a bra (we know, effort but trust us here) and T-Shirt
  2. Pull down your bra strap, tuck part of the sleeve loosely around the strap
  3. Once secured, simply pull your strap back to your shoulder, gathering all the excess fabric and tuck under.
  4. Then, pull the shoulder out slightly and voila!

Watch the trick in action here.

It sounds complicated but it's actually so simple. It's like using a bobbin to crop a shirt - only chicer. And because we’re dedicated to Serious Fashion Journalism, we'll be trying it tonight. Watch this space.
