From the Dior Saddle Bag to the Gucci Marmont Mini crossbody to the iconic Chanel 2.55, being seen with the fashion receptacle of the time is a sure-fire way to gain 'it girl' status.
Throughout the years, we've seen handbags shrink and swell at alarming rates. We've carried glorified bracelets on our wrists and called them clutches, we've wheeled suitcases down the street claiming it was fashion but never once have carried something so impractical yet so intriguing than a micro bag.
The trend was first introduced to the masses with this microscopic Jacquemus creation which looks like it could just about fit a postage stamp.
At the low price of $486 (roughly €436), the ultra-small handbag soon became a must-have accessory amongst the fashion pack.
Despite first being introduced to the market as charms for a regular-sized handbag, micro bags have become tall enough to stand on their own.
But sometimes, no matter how hard fashion objects, you just need a bag that actually fits your phone...and your laptop...and your keys...and your lipstick...and your water bottle...and your... you get the picture.
If you can't quite afford the luxury of carrying around a postage stamp and nothing else, then good news; oversized totes are the new micro bags.
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, endlessly roomy oversized tote bags are set to become next season's must-have accessory. Oversized enough to make it fashion, practical enough to make it useful.
