The High Street Dupe For Prada's Headband That You're Seeing Everywhere

Blair Waldorf would approve.

We're buying ten...

There’s something to be said about the mystifying rise of padded headbands. You could write it off as just another ‘90s trend that is making a comeback, but we have some other ideas.

Prada debuted extra next-level padded headbands at their spring summer 2019 show last September. Some came in a lustrous simple satin, but others took a dark turn with a leather base and studs allover. And since then, Kate Middleton’s been spotted wearing one, Chrissy Teigen’s “headband of the day” featured one, and now, at New York Fashion Week, you can’t take two steps outside a show without seeing someone with one topping their carefully styled tresses.

This new wave of headband popularity is giving women an opportunity to redefine the classic headband. Sure you can channel your inner Blair Waldorf and wear them with colourful tights and a pleated skirt, but this time around headbands are for making the statement that we control the narrative of what "being a lady" means. Pair one with a T-shirt and jeans to spice things up or wear one with a dress for a look that’s a little more regal.

They look good with sleek, straight locks, tousled waves, natural texture, or with your do pulled back in a low bun or pony. Any part will do, but many of these blogger types went for the centre. Short hair, long hair—doesn’t matter. It's perfect!

However, what's far from perfect is the price tag - with the headbands costing anything €150 to €450.

And that's if you can get your hands on one...earlier this year the headband sold out in every Prada store, on the brand's website and also stockists such as Net-a-porter and Matches Fashion. In fact, six months later, most shades are only available to pre-order

Merci beaucoup, our friends in the design department at ASOS who didn't sleep on this trend.

Available in black velvet, the online high street hero's headband pays homage to what they call the "shape of the season".

And for just €11.06... it really is perfect.

And unlike with It bags, this isn't just a chance to label flex. Influencers from Monikh Dale and Michelle Li have been rocking her anonymous padded headband in various Instagram posts recently.

From Monkih wearing one with frothy floral dresses to Michelle Li styling the hair accessory with a summer suit, it's evident how trans-seasonal this accessory is.

We'll be wearing our Prada headband dupe with dresses and opaque tights in winter, sparkly embellished numbers at Christmas parties, pastel satin in the Spring and sassy tie-dye printed styles at summer festivals.
