These are the ultimate holiday shoe!
In the summer of last year, you couldn't scroll through Instagram without seeing at least five influencers sporting a pair of dad sandals; chunky-soled and with velcro. Then came the minimalist, heeled flip-flop variety - made trendy by the likes of The Row and Arket - to steal the title of the fashion set's flat shoe of choice. But right now, there seems to be a new contender for coolest sandal style of the year and it's a bit more boho than we've been used to.
Rope sandals are set to blow up this summer and given their comfort and versatility, we're absolutely not complaining!
Despite many high-end designers jumping on the braided bandwagon of late, the originals (and arguably the best) are by eco-friendly, US brand, Nomadic State of Mind, who have been around since the Nineties.
Handmade in Nicaragua, Nomadic State of Mind's rope sandals are made from recycled polypropylene rope and any scraps left-over are then recycled into rugs, handbags and water bottle carriers. They’re also 100% vegan.
In terms of styling, rope sandals are super lightweight making them ideal for travelling and as raffia accessories tend to always be big news come summertime, teaming them with a straw bag is a no-brainer. If the natural beige shade is a bit too neutral for you, there are black, brown and bright red options available on the highstreet too.
Rope sandals are the ultimate holiday shoe (or indeed, indoor shoe) and even if we are staycationing for the rest of 2020, that shouldn't mean our feet can't feel as though we're in Ibiza, right?
