White on time.
Black ankle boots have long been a fashion gal's footwear staple and so deep runs our love for the old everyday reliables that, when the return of white ankle boots was so blatantly heralded by all of Instagram, we were forced to do some hard thinking. Could a white statement boot ever replace our versatile black versions?
Surely not. But then...
We saw Pernille Teisbaek of Dress Scandinavian fame and all-round #LifeGoals girl wearing them with pretty much, well everything. The more we saw white ankle boots, styled up with less of a retro 60s redux-vibe, the more convinced of their value we became. #Influenced.
Decidedly less dour than their darker-hued colleagues, white ankle boots have all the makings of the ideal seasonal transition piece. On dreary Autumn days, they'll work with midi lengths and bare legs as a reminder of summer days past, or in the depths of winter, wear white ankle boots with statement outerwear and fuzzy teddy coats for seasonal refresh.
Incredibly hard-working footwear, in terms of their matching powers, a white ankle boot is no less useful than its black and brown counterparts. From indigo denim to floral prints to bold colour blocking to classic neutrals, there are really few outfits a white boot can’t find its way into.
White ankle boots are the new black, we guess you could say.
