This High Street Dress Is So Popular It Has Its Own Instagram

What's dot to like?

Now that we're over the leopard print mid-skirt epidemic, there's a new trend sweeping the nation; the Zara polka dot dress

A presence is haunting Instagram - and me.

It is 100% viscose, ankle-length and has a ruffled hem that flutters pleasingly when you walk. It costs €49.95 in Zara. It is a polka dot dress with a round neck and it will categorically not leave me alone.

Almost certainly, you know the dress I’m speaking of. It’s a printed lightweight number, with elbow-length sleeves and a keyhole button fastening. Black and white spots. Everyone in the Western hemisphere owns it. It’s permeated every level of my existence. ‘The Dress’ – as my Whatsapp group and I now refer to it – is everywhere: dotted all over Instagram, sitting on a Dublin Bus seat reading What A Complete Aisling, standing outside the pub on a Friday evening with a gin and tonic in hand.

Now don't get me wrong, I fully understand why everyone and their mum is wearing this Zara polka dot maxi dress. It's the perfect day to night outfit meaning you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. It's flowy which means you don't have to toy with the idea of Spanx and the lightweight material makes it the perfect dress for the clammy weather we've been having.

It's been called the 'it' dress of the summer, so like most popular trends, someone has already set up an Instagram full of pictures of women wearing the Zara polka dot dress.

Called Hotforthespot, the Instagram account is dedicated to candid and posed shots of the dress. With the account first starting in May and now has amassed over 3,600 followers.

Despite the demand and popularity surrounding the dress, it is somehow still in stock meaning you can get your hands on it.

But if you already own the black and white polka dot dress, feel smug. Just don't be surprised if you end up on its Instagram page.
