Michael Halpern is glamour. And his eponymous high-end label reflects that fully. Since it's launch in 2016, Halpern has unabashedly filled the runways with sequins, glitz, and high-gloss and now, his collaboration with the high street giant will too, reflect that signature Seventies’ disco vibe.
Arriving in Topshop stores and online today, November 7, the Halpern X Topshop collection is “really going back to the roots” of the brand, notes the designer. The 28-piece collection really harps back to the days of Studio 54 glamour, with mixed-up sequins, velvet and clashing colour.
Pushing the boundaries of fashion seems important to the London-based, young designer. "If the clothes help you feel more confident and ‘out there’, I think that’s the most exciting thing a designer can ever ask for" he says and describing a full green stretch-velvet look as "just quite frankly, fabulous!"
"As a designer it’s amazing to collaborate with Topshop and have a one-off, accessibly-priced line produced on a mass scale. It means the glamour spreads as the pieces are made readily available to people that wouldn’t necessarily shop the main Halpern collection" says the designer in an interview on the Topshop site.
While the disco-inspired collab won't be a fit for the everyday, one can't deny that Halpern appears to be single-handedly bring back full-on glamour, both on the high-end scale and the high-street.
