Podcasts: A healthy obsession.
Although podcasts have been around since the early 2000s, their original dark horse status has since changed to hero and pushed them into the limelight (thank you, Steve Jobs!.
The trend soared when content creators spotted gaps in the relatively untouched market and started mixing more variety into the selection of podcasts offered. With the evolution of smartphones and the rise of music apps such as Spotify, podcasts were given another platform to showcase and further pushed to the forefront.
Music junkies soon began swapping playlists for podcasts and the demand for content only continues to rise.
Podcasts are an easy form of education, your brain is being stimulated with minimal effort on your part. If you have the slightly irrational fear of losing brain cells post being formally educated (I feel you) listening to a podcast allows food for thought so you can check ‘productivity’ off of your daily to-do list, which was hardly strenuous, right?
If you're stuck in a music rut and never know where to start with the gargantuan podcast offerings we have today, below is a curated selected to welcome you to the 'current' club. Enjoy!
