Could Claire Fraser finally claim a Golden Globe of her own?
National sweetheart Caitríona Balfe is still reeling from recent wins, as the Outlander team won the most binge-worthy show at the 2019 People's Choice Awards on Sunday night.
The Monaghan actress, who was not at the ceremony, featured in a video with co-stars celebrating the win, name-checking the show's fans as the reason they are where they are today.
Greatest news!!!!! Massive thanks to all our fans for voting, to @Writer_DG for creating these amazing characters and world and to our fantastic crew who work so hard to get the show made. https://t.co/Yq46SUgN7C— Caitriona Balfe (@caitrionambalfe) November 11, 2019
As per The Scotsman, the international fanbase of the show contributed greatly to the awards, which saw the time-travelling show honoured alongside Avengers: Endgame, America’s Got Talent, Taylor Swift, Khloe Kardashian, Beyonce and Harry Styles.
Leading lady Balfe has been ranked as one of the biggest earners in US TV earning $100,000 per episode in which she plays the time-travelling Claire Fraser.
According to Variety magazine, Balfe earns $100,000 per episode of Outlander in which she plays the time-travelling Claire Fraser.
Having earned four Golden Globe nominations in recent years, fans are speculating whether the binge-worthy show will be eligible for further glory.
And according to CarterMatt, it will.
'Today, we can confirm now courtesy of Starz that Outlander will be eligible again for the 2020 Globes, due mostly to airing episodes early this year,' the post read.
'The series will be submitted, though we’d consider it an underdog given the small number of episodes and then also the fact that it was so heavily considered last year. Season 5, as you would have guessed, will be eligible for the 2021 Golden Globes in addition to the 2020 Emmys, which will air more than likely in September — more information will be out on that in due time. '
'Our hope is that getting this information out there will help Outlander a little moving into the remainder of campaign season. Because of the limited number of episodes, we don’t have huge expectations — yet, Outlander has succeeded in that underdog role before!'
The Golden Globes have, historically, been the kinder awards show to the series with Caitriona's repeated nominations, while the series itself has scored some Drama Series love in the past.
The 2020 Golden Globe Award nominees will be announced Monday, 9 December while the show itself will air on Sunday, 5 January in Los Angeles, CA and be televised live on NBC.
I guess we'll just have to watch this space until then...
