A Clueless reboot is in the works by way of CBS — one that makes Cher Horowitz the subject of a mystery.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Will and Grace writers Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey are said to be writing the small screen adaptation of the film, which starred Brittany Murphy, Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash as a trio of spoiled Beverley Hills teens navigating the pitfalls of dating and popularity in high school.
The new version will centre on Dionne (Stacey Dash), Cher's best friend and lifelong right-hand woman.
When Cher disappears, Dionne must take on the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school while also unravelling the mystery of what happened to her friend.
The cult classic's reimagining has been met with mixed reviews, with die-hard fans growing more horrified at possibilities of a remake of the original, which was loosely based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel, Emma.
The new version is described as Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo video, set in a high school that is uniquely 2020 LA.
