Ireland is not short of historic hotels but few have over 400 acres of beautiful grounds, their own lake and offer endless opportunities to enjoy the very best of nature.
Dromoland Castle in Co Clare fits the bill, however, and this summer is the perfect opportunity to discover it for yourself.
The team at the castle has been meticulously trained to safely look after each and every guest and to make sure they feel safe and comfortable during their stay at the hotel. Along with luxury accommodation, great dining options and a warm welcome, Dromoland Castle also offers a host of experiences so you can make the most of your summer 2021 staycation.
The castle’s 450-acre estate is a veritable outdoor playground and there are plenty of activities to enjoy this summer with options to suit all ages. How about paddleboarding on the scenic Dromoland Lough, trying your hand at fishing and archery or getting up close to majestic birds with a falconry experience?
There’s also golf and biking too, of course, but to really experience the best of the estate’s incredible array of nature (not to mention its inhabitants - over 500 of them!) head off on one of the new wildlife trails.
Developing a range of dawn-to-dusk nature, wildlife and bird trails has been something of a passion project for the Dromoland Castle team over the last few months. The outdoors has been such a support to many this past year, as we navigated the difficulties of lockdowns and missing friends and family. What better way to reconnect and recharge than to immerse yourself in nature? The new trails offer the chance to experience first-hand (and in an un-intrusive way, of course) the deer, swans, birds, badgers, rabbits, foxes and other wildlife that call the estate home.
Then, to fully enjoy all that an Irish summer can offer, guests can head off on a picnic on the grounds or dine in the castle’s walled gardens. The culinary team has been busy in the kitchens these past weeks and months and has created a new alfresco dining option. Guests can now enjoy the best of Irish food, served in the flower-filled surrounds of the walled gardens - an unforgettable experience.
