As the Northern Ireland campaigner for Amnesty International, Grainne Teggart is dedicated to challenging prejudice and discrimination.

Rights matter and are critical to our everyday lives, they are not abstract.
The most satisfying part of her career to date has been being able to correct injustices and bring about real change in people’s lives.

“Rights matter and are critical to our everyday lives, they are not abstract. We all gain when we live in a society where these are protected and promoted. Most recently, it has been enormously rewarding to play my part in abortion law reform for the North.
"Soon, unless Stormont returns before October 21, a new law will take effect and we’ll finally have decriminalisation of this healthcare and a compassionate response to crisis pregnancy.”
Teggart is incredibly proud to be part of the world’s largest human rights organisation that so successfully delivers progress and makes human rights a reality for people.
“We’re surrounded by inequality and our choice is simple, we can ignore this or be part of making change – I choose the latter,” Teggart says.
