Focusing on prints, handmade candles and super soft textiles to showcase the very best in luxury Irish design and craft, HOME's lifestyle products encourage you to slow down and enjoy your space.
Just before Christmas, we were introduced to a startup that like many, was born out of a career pivot due to the pandemic but which also had all the hallmarks of providing something unique in the interiors space.
HOME is the brainchild of Deirdre Young, Eileen and Sinead Kelly whose collective backgrounds in events, culture, arts and entertainment have been distilled to curate an online shop with bespoke lifestyle products that have all been created here in Ireland.
Focusing on a mix of prints, handmade candles and super soft textiles the aim is to showcase the best in luxury Irish design and craft with the emphasis very much on objects that encourage you to slow down, enjoy your space and indulge in a little self-care. There is special attention to the quality of each piece, evident in the detail too, with key pieces like their Kildare-made merino wool knit blankets featuring the traditional tree of life pattern woven into the fabric to represent unity and family.
Such has been the success so far that there is now a waiting list for some items, including their large luxury soy candles which at €29.50 are a great price point. Their particularly popular Earth candle aims to evoke “the lush green forests of Ireland, getting lost in a sea of green nature. the smell of wildflowers, pine, and moss-covered bark”. Each one contains 10 per cent scent load and comes in premium natural undyed soy wax with a crackling wooden wick.
Elsewhere their linen paper prints also channel our Irish culture and landscape with Pagan and Celtic symbolism to create contemporary forms and structures based on the four elements, Earth, Wind, Fire and Air. While there are plans to expand the range, it is also worth keeping an eye out for super-soft sheepskin rugs from West Cork, which are a true thing of joy.
