Everything You Need To Pack For A Socially Distanced Picnic This Weekend

Grab the cheese and wine!

If we've learned anything from early '00s rom-coms, it's that no summer is complete without a picnic in the park and a romantic kiss in the rain. While we can't guarantee you the latter, we can help you with what it takes to pack the perfect picnic basket.

With most of us spending more time at home, and the summer months on the horizon, it could be time to elevate your at-home al fresco dining experience.

If you're just serving up a simple salad, or have ordered in something fantastic from an Irish business (click here for plenty of ideas), having great tableware and accessories can make it all feel a little special.

We've rounded up some great pieces to enjoy whether you're grabbing a morning cuppa in the back garden, or making an afternoon of it with the family. While many of the bricks and mortar branches of the stores below remain closed, all the products are available online.

Industry on Dublin's Drury Street is a treasure trove of beautifully-made homewares. These hand-shaped mugs are both microwave and dishwasher safe so they're practical as well as stylish.

They may look delicate but these pretty glasses are actually made from acrylic so are nigh-on unbreakable. Which is always a good thing when outdoor imbibing is involved.

Beautiful linen tableware is going to make any casual outdoor dining feel like something very fancy indeed. We love Irish Linen House's range of napkins and table runners - perfectly simple and elegant.

If you're a cheese lover it's worth investing in a great cheeseboard. Based in Dublin, Slated is a family run business creating products from slate. The range includes a selection of cheeseboards, which can even be personalised.

These braided coasters from H&M are ideal for outdoor dining - they're made from plastic so they're pretty much spill-proof. There are also placemats in the range too.

Salad servers always add a bit of pizzazz to a salad bowl - and this set from Article is gorgeous. They're made from stainless steel so will last too.

Aldi has an outdoor tableware range arriving in-store on Thursday 21 May. It includes lots of bits and pieces made from bamboo - including this dishwasher-safe serving set.

The new Animal Jungle range at M&S is a riot of colour and features all the outdoor (or indoor!) dining essentials, from jugs and glasses to a chip and dip bowl.
