We made it through the marathon that was January, now for some fun!
Wow, that was intense! January really was the month that never ended and while New Year's Eve feels like a distant memory now, we're ready to welcome February with open arms.
The second month of the year is always better than the first; warmer weather is looming, we're – dare we say it – noticing a bit of stretch in the evenings and for the social sports-fans amongst us, there's rugby aplenty!
If the 6 Nations aren't your thing though, don't panic, February has lots to offer those of all interests. Rounding up everything from what to buy to what to book, we've curated an 'IT List' of sorts, rammed full of fresh, new things to see and do this month…
Everything! Now that Veganuary is over ...
Firstly, kudos to you if you've managed to survive the month sans any animal by-products – a feat not to be scoffed at! Whether you're hoping to keep it up for the rest of 2020 or can' t wait to devour your next box of nuggs, we recommend paying a visit to the city's only dedicated dumpling shop! Little Dumpling recently opened just off Capel St and word on the street is that the Nutella dumplings are the stuff of sweet, sweet dreams!
Everything! Now that #DryJan is over...
No more than the aforementioned, seeing out January without a sip of booze is really impressive - we're thirsty at the thought of it! If you're in the mood to celebrate now that you've dried out, we implore you to do it in style at the Nightjar residency at The Shelbourne. Nab tickets to one of the exclusive three ticketed evenings in the hotel’s 1824 Bar and you can expect a cocktail list like no other, worthy only of the Hoxton-based speakeasy, as well as a hefty side of old-school glamour. Tickets are €20 per person and include a welcome cocktail with canapés.
Our Galentine's Event
Whether you're in a committed relationship, seriously single, or somewhere in between, Valentine's Day can prove a little saccharine with all of the sickeningly loved-up displays, grand gestures and roses by the dozen. Galentine's Day though, we can get behind! As if we ever needed an excuse to celebrate our best friends and show them the love they deserve? So, to show our appreciation for all-things Galentine's this year, we're hosting a cheese and wine evening in Café en Seine, with special guest, Love Island's Greg O'Shea. Gather your gals and enjoy cocktails on arrival, wine tastings throughout the evening and more cheesy canapés than you could dream of! Click here to book!
And not just because literally everyone you encounter the next day will be talking about it. Staying up at least once to watch The Oscars live is a must so tick it off your bucket list this year. The 91st Academy Awards is set to take place on February 9. For the second time ever, the award show has decided to go hostless but they're making it up in bounds by inviting Timothée Chalamet to present an award on the night. The Oscars will, of course, be the one-stop-shop for fashion and celebrity gossip aka our favourite topics. Not to mention that you just might witness Saoirse Ronan win her first-ever academy award.
The Slow Rush By Tame Impala
Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker has been drip-feeding tracks from his upcoming album The Slow Rush for quite some time, with four psychedelic indie-pop songs from the collection - Borderline, It Might Be Time, Posthumous Forgiveness and Lost In Yesterday - already out, the album sounds like it's set to become our soundtrack for the year. Out February 14.

Part of the Marriott family, this boutique hotel marks the Moxy chain's first base in Ireland and whether you're there to work or play, the atmosphere is as chill and inclusive as the New York or London iterations. Aimed at those who want to stay in the heart of things, The Moxy Dublin makes coming home fun too, with a front-desk that doubles as a 24/7 bar and a communal 'Living Room' complete with foosball tables and board games.
Better Call Saul, Season 5
The “Breaking Bad” spin-off will continue to follow the life of Jimmy McGill, an attorney in Albuquerque, New Mexico before he begins practising under the name Saul Goodman and working for the drug lord Walter White. A Bang & Olufsen device...
That saying 'form follows function' was turned on its head a little for us this month, when our team were given the chance to test out some products from the Bang & Olufsen store on South William St. If you're not familiar with the brand, it's a high-end electronics company hailing from Denmark, that combines exceptional acoustic engineering with especially cool design. We gave the uber-trendy, noise-cancelling Beoplay H9 3rd Gen headphones and the long-play, fast-charge Beoplay P6 portable speaker a whirl and to say we've never heard sound like it is an understatement. As is the case with all B&O products, they're not cheap, but for the premium-sound-cum-expert-craftsmanship, they're worth every penny!
