What To Watch This Weekend, According To Netflix

Haven't you heard? Staying in is the new going out...

Binge, sleep, repeat.

There's a certain energy in the air when Friday rolls around, no matter what the season. People start packing up their desks a little earlier than usual, make plans for Saturday morning brunch and scroll through their dating apps looking for dinner dates.

It can almost feel like it’s mandatory to 'do something' over the weekend.

But we here at Irish Tatler have jumped upon the latest European wellness bandwagon, Niksen - the art of doing nothing - and therefore spend our weekends embracing the full coach potato aesthetic.

TRENDING TODAY: This New Netflix Show Is Essentially Gilmore Girls 2.0

With the debut of Mindhunter season, a new movie from White Chicks’ Marlon Wayans, and even a reminder of your childhood thanks to the Invader Zim movie - Netflix is fully supported our plans of doing absolutely nothing.

Keep scrolling for a complete list of everything new to Netflix this weekend.

Mindhunter, season 2

Inspired by true events, Mindhunter Season 2 returns today. The new season stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, Joe Tuttle, Albert Jones, Stacey Roca, Michael Cerveris, Lauren Glazier, and Sierra McClain. This season, FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench probe further into the psyches of those who have done the unthinkable. With help from psychologist Wendy Carr, they apply their groundbreaking behavioural analysis to hunting notorious serial killers.

sextuplets

An average man (Marlon Wayans) who finds out he was actually born as a sextuplet: the movie follows his journey to get the entire sibling crew back together, with so many prosthetics and hijinks along the way.

45 rpm

The swingin’ 60s… but in Madrid. 45 RPM follows Guillermo Rojas (Iván Marcos), a record executive who decides it’s time to invest in a crazy new genre called rock n’ roll and the dreamy aspiring singer making waves across the city (Carlos Cuevas). Rounding out the sexy music revolutionary crew is Maribel (Guiomar Puerta), a producer who may not want to go the wife-and-mother route anymore.

diagnosis

Bringing Dr. Lisa Sanders’ New York Times Magazine column to the small screen. The series, which shares its name with Sanders’ column, aims to diagnose regular people’s supposedly impossible-to-treat medical crisis. Although that description could lead to a painfully dry product, Diagnosis instead leans into Queer Eye-style inspiration and empathetic optimism.

sacred games, season 2

Often referred to as the Indian Game Of Thrones, Sacred Games follows a gangland-tinged battle for Mumbai’s soul. Season 2 flies from the '90s and into the 2000s while also delving into a Wild, Wild Country-style ashram.

invader zim

A reminder of Nickelodeon's aughts greatness, Alien Zim and his arch-nemesis Dib face off in the ultimate showdown.

tiffany haddish presents: they ready

Tiffany Haddish using her star power to throw some shine on her favourite comedians (all of whom are women, people of colour, queer, or all three). Although she herself doesn’t perform during the show, Haddish does appear in each episode’s first few minutes to introduce the comic you’re about to see. Then, it’s all laugh-out-loud stand-up comedy from there.

happy jail

In 2007, a “Thriller” dance video went viral. But, the clip wasn't some basic flash mob or a so-bad-it’s-great cover. Instead, the video was a massive dance routine performed by dozens of talented people… in a Philippine prison. It looked joyous despite the harsh setting.

Better than us

If you can't wait for Westworld to come back, this is for you. In the world of Better, extremely human robots, called “Bots,” have become part of everyday life. But, one Bot ends up at the nexus of competing, violent interests as the government, terrorists, and homicide detectives all want her. And, unfortunately for one quickly unravelling family, they’re the ones in possession of the eerie Bot.
