Annie Leibovitz Is Now On Instagram

Acclaimed for her intimate portraits of the most established talent in the world – from Leonardo DiCaprio to Jennifer Lawrence to Meryl Streep, Anne-Lou 'Annie' Leibovitz is now Instagram.

It's been a big week for celebrity Instagram.

First, everyone's favourite Friend, Jennifer Aniston, blew up the internet with her very first post, now American mega-photographer Annie Leibovitz has entered the social media game – amassing 62k followers overnight.

Creating an account on Tuesday, under the handle @annieleibovitz, the acclaimed artist – famous for photographing Yoko Ono and John Lennon hours before he was murdered – has posted three striking images to her account thus far.

The first, a black and white shot of her mother taken in New York in 1997, sits alongside her image of the Nobel prize-winning Malala Yousafzai taken in Birmingham in 2016, and finally, a picture shot for Vanity Fair featuring Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.

As Instagram becomes a more and more essential space for photographers to share their work, Leibovitz appears to be putting together an archival account of her work.

While we sit and patiently wait for some more posts to trickle into our feed (hopefully in the form of candid or never seen before pictures), take a look back at some of Leibovitz’s most famous works below.
