"I guess stealing from queer artists for profit is fine."
Yesterday, news broke that Ariana Grande has launched legal action against Forever 21 for allegedly using a lookalike model and copying her '7 Rings' music video in social media posts to sell clothes.
Suing the brand for $10 million, the lawsuit alleges that Forever 21 used 'unauthorised use of Ms Grande’s name, image, likeness, and music to promote their brands and products' which they claim infringes her copyright.
'The resemblance is uncanny and Forever 21’s intent was clear: to suggest to the viewing public that Ms. Grande endorsed Forever 21, its products, and was affiliated with Forever 21,' the lawsuit claims.
But gentlemen, start your engines for more drama. That’s right because the library is officially open.
Last night, season nine RuPaul’s Drag Race star Farrah Moan took to Twitter to accuse Ariana (previous guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race) Grande of “stealing from queer artists”.
Posting side-by-side images of herself and Grande in pretty similar looks, she tweeted: “Ariana should give me a cut of that 10M since her team literally sent a pic of me to the designer and paid them to copy my look from as4. (Finally met the designer and got told the Tea) I guess stealing from queer artists for profit is fine tho.”

The look in question is the corset Grande wore in her “7 rings” video. The original version was designed by Moan “and a queer 18-year-old based out of Louisiana”. As Farrah points out, "The only thing her design is missing is the chandelier crystals on the hip because Ariana couldn’t have laid down on the counter with the amount of detailing mine had."
But it's not Ariana, Moan has an issue with, it's her team. Later tweeting: “idc what the lawsuit is really about, her legal team is accusing theft of likeness, image, w/e but the point is her team also stole.”
As of right now, Ariana hasn't responded, but the tea has very much been spilt.
