Love Island's Amber Reveals That Greg Break-Up Happened Over Text

"I kind of still wanted to make it work."

Love Island winner Amber Gill said she was "disappointed" by splitting with fellow winner Greg O'Shea.

On Friday, Greg confirmed that he and Amber had broken up on RTÉ's Late Late Show but claimed reports that it happened by text were blown out of proportion.

However, speaking on Loose Women today, Amber said that Greg decided to end things during a text conversation and denied it was a mutual decision.

In the interview, she referenced how she was due to sit alongside Greg for the Late Late Show appearance, but pulled out at the last minute due to relationship troubles.

"From my point of view, I kind of still wanted to make it work, and there was a call a few days prior just chatting, not specifically to do with that," she said.

"But definitely on that day [the relationship ended], it was like a text.

"We were texting each other... Basically all I wanted was a bit of effort from him to come to London or Newcastle to come and see me, and I just was like, 'Oh, I'm going to have to give up if you don't put the effort in', and then he was like, 'Okay, bye'.

"I think there was a bit of miscommunication, but I think if you don't want to be with someone, you don't want to be with someone."

The Newcastle-based beauty therapist admitted that she was a little disappointed with both the break-up and the way that it happened, but she is trying to stay optimistic.

"I think the careers and the distance was always a factor," she said.

"It was always something that we knew about, so I don't know what changed. I kind of wanted to make it work, but it is what it is, really.

"I am disappointed that it's over, but you know, I'm booked and I'm busy and I'll be fine. Onwards and upwards from here."
