Why The Internet Thinks Maura Higgins Is Replacing Caroline Flack As The New Host Of Love Island

Could it be?

It's unclear if Caroline will be able to present the show.

Love Island fans are convinced Maura Higgins is set to replace Caroline Flack as a presenter on Winter Love Island following Flack's arrest on Friday for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton, 27, at her North London home."Why?" you may ask, well, here are the cryptic clues:

Over the weekend, Maura posted a topless picture of herself standing by the edge of an infinity pool in a sunny location. "Do one winter...," she captioned it, though failed to reveal exactly where she was. "What's so strange about this?" you may ponder, well, "Do one, winter" is the Winter Love Island tag line.

Unsurprisingly, this post prompted a flood of comments from fans who were sure it meant the Longford native was taking over from Caroline.

"I really hope this means what I think it means 🤞🏻," ex Islander Chris Taylor wrote under the photo. While a second fan asked: "Are you replacing Caroline because if you are it is going to be amazing?"

A third commented: "She's filming the introductions etc early to allow Flack time to get to court etc? Temp replacement?"

While another penned.. "winter love island host?!?"

To add even more fuel to the fire, Maura Higgins also shared a photo of herself in a private jet and teased: "Off to the sun to shoot something very exciting..."

However, it's unlikely Maura will be stepping into Flack's shoes as she's set to appear on Dancing On Ice when it returns on January 5, which is just days before the start of Winter Love Island. ITV is yet to comment on whether Caroline will be able to host the show. She is due to head to South Africa just a week after her court date on 23 December.

Other TV presenters recommended by fans on Twitter include Gemma Collins, Laura Whitmore and Emily Atack, as well as Ant and Dec and this summer's Love Island winner, Amber Gill.
