Former US First Lady Michelle Obama’s autobiography, Becoming, has sold almost 10 million copies worldwide. And it was released just five months ago.

Becoming, which was published by Penguin Random House in November 2018 was a huge success from the off.  It became the best selling book of 2018 and is now on course to become the best-selling memoir ever.

The book details Obama’s early life, from childhood through her career, motherhood, and, of course, her time in the White House with husband, Former US President Barack Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha.

In it, she reveals more than a few personal details, including that she had a miscarriage and issues conceiving her daughters.

She also discusses current US President Donald Trump and how she will "never forgive him" for putting her family in danger. Trump fed into a false narrative that Barack was not born in the US and was therefore not a legitimate president.

As I read through your feedback on my book, one theme that keeps popping up is how to empower the women around us—whether that's our girlfriends, coworkers, or the women we see at the gym or at happy hour. Empowering each other is a big question and can take a lot of forms, but one thing I know is that it's up to us to be there for each other—especially those who often feel overlooked—because when someone shows genuine interest in your growth and development, it can make all the difference in the world. So for#WomensHistoryMonth, I want you to let me know how you’re making an impact on another woman's life. Whether that’s joining a mentoring program, asking your boss about how they’re planning to get more women’s voices at the table, or simply taking 10 minutes to lend an ear to your coworker over coffee, I want to hear what you’re up to! Let me know in a short video or in comments below. #IAmBecoming #WellnessWednesday

Obama has also been on an extensive book tour in 2019 - which includes dates in Europe next month, although, sadly, none in Ireland.

Barack Obama is also due to release an autobiography through the same publisher. It's thought it may be published later this year but no date has been confirmed yet.
