Netflix Wants People To Stop Crushing On Serial Killer Ted Bundy

Yes, Ted Bundy may have been handsome and charismatic but he also murdered dozens of women
Ted Bundy murdered at least 30 women and girls before being executed

A new four-part true crime series, about Ted Bundy, one of America’s most notorious serial killers, had has an unexpected reaction on social media.

So much so that programme maker Netflix has taken to Twitter to address the response from some to Conversations With A Serial Killer:The Ted Bundy Tapes.

It has asked people to stop crushing on the man who murdered at least 30 women in the 1970s before being sent to the electric chair in January 1989.

While some have been disturbed by the programme, which features interview tapes with Bundy himself, the killer – known for being charismatic and charming – has apparently picked up some fans 30 years after he was executed.

The self-titled Bundy 'stans' (a term for an overzealous fan) appear to entirely overlook the fact that Bundy murdered, raped and dismembered numerous women. And the release of the - surprisingly jaunty - trailer for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, an upcoming Bundy film starring Zac Efron, hasn’t helped matters either.

The unsavoury crushes on Bundy follow a similar response to Netflix drama, You, which featured violent stalker Joe Goldberg.

There was such a fanbase for Joe on social media that the actor who played him, Penn Badgley, addressed it. He responded directly to tweets about Joe - and even went so far as to privately message people who had posted problematic message about the character.
