Irish Actress Niamh Algar Named Among BAFTA Breakthrough Honourees 2019

The Westmeath native's performance in The Virtues saw her named 2018 Screen International Star of Tomorrow.

The Westmeath-native is one to watch.

Irish actress Niamh Algar has been nominated among 20 rising stars for BAFTA's Breakthrough Brits 2019.

The 29-year-old, who is originally from Mullingar, wowed audiences earlier in the year in the BBC's The Virtues which was written and directed by Shane Meadows.

She also starred opposite Barry Keoghan in Calm with Horses and has also wrapped filming on Raised by Wolves, a new sci-fi TV series from director Ridley Scott.

She has been chosen among the best of film, games and television – with the list including actors, directors, producers and more.

Algar and her fellow BAFTA honourees will be celebrated at a special event at the Banqueting Hall on London's Whitehall next week.
