After the Season 3 finale left viewers with a cliff hanger, here's everything you need to know about the next installment.
Catastrophe will be back on screens in January, promising to brighten up what's typically the most sufferable month of the year.
The collaborative effort of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney will once again focus on the less-than-picture-perfect side of marital life - and according to reports there will be a specific focus on the reality of sex in long-term relationships.
In Season 4, a major storyline will revolve around the death of Rob's mother Mia, who was previously played by the inimitable, late actress Carrie Fisher. (Fisher died suddenly after Season 3 wrapped.)
As for guest stars, Delaney himself confirmed that none other than Chris Noth (aka Sex and the City's Mr. Big) will guest star, as will Irish actor Brian Gleeson (Love/Hate), Julie Hesmondhalgh (Broadchurch), Michaela Watkins (Casual), comedian David Alan Grier, and Nat Faxon (Friends from College).
In a recent interview with ELLE, Irish actor and writer Horgan said that frank conversation around the couple's sex life will underpin a lot of Season 4.
“Is anyone in a long-term relationship actually having sex?” the Meath native said. “I’ve definitely had some friends in couples who really go at it. But generally, long-term relationships seem to form into kind of partnership-friendship things. You don’t want to admit to yourself that you don’t have an active sexual relationship. People keep that under wraps.”
The mother-of-two has been incredibly busy since Catastrophe first aired on Chanel 4 back in 2015. She recently made her Hollywood debut in Game Night alongside Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman and penned hit US sitcom Divorce which stars Sarah Jessica Parker. She also co-wrote the shows Motherland and Women on the Verge, and is set to star herself in Happy AF.
Delaney made an appearance alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2 and has been touring as a stand-up comedian. The actor's 2-year-old son Henry tragically died of brain cancer in January of this year.
