Here's How Buying Wine This Weekend Is Actually A Good Deed

The 15th Annual Corkscrew Wine Fair takes place in The Westbury this weekend, with all proceeds going to Pieta House.

Every year, The Corkscrew Wine Merchants host a wine fair at The Westbury Hotel in Dublin, with all of the proceeds raised donated to a charity of their choice.

This year, the team have chosen suicide and self-harm prevention organisation Pieta House as their charity partner.

This is the perfect fair for any and all wine lovers as novices and experts are sure to find something to pique their interest on the day.

There will be more than 100 of the best wines available in Ireland open on the day, so you'll be able to taste plenty of different types, including white, red, sparkling and fortified.

Tasting sheets will be provided so that you can take notes of which tipples tickle your fancy and if you find your new favourite wine at the fair, you'll be able to order it for home delivery.

Drink wine and be merry

At this weekend's wine fair, tables will be set up around the room for you to try as many wines as you like. Each table will be managed by suppliers or members of The Corkscrew team, so you'll have the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like and conduct some very in-depth tasting sessions.

This year, some of the suppliers on-site will include Christoph from German wine house Thorle, non-conforming winemaker Anthony from Aubert & Mathieu, Guillaume from Burgundy house Vincent Giradin, Alessandra from Prosecco house Bepindeeto and Syliva, an ambassador for Bodegas Cornelio.

The Corkscrew Wine Fair is also home to a legendary raffle, which will take place after a quick chat about Pieta House with the event organisers.

This year prizes include a voucher for Champagne afternoon tea at The Westbury, a Sheridan's Cheese voucher, dinner for two at Roly's Bistro in Ballsbridge and much more, so make sure you buy some tickets on the day!

If you have a spare moment on Sunday, drop into The Westbury to treat yourself to some gorgeous wine and help raise much-needed funds for Pieta House.

If you can't make it, you can donate directly to Pieta House here. The charity relies on fundraising and donations for more than 85 per cent of its income, so any donations are sure to be greatly appreciated.
