As we face into issues of global warming and pollution, which will affect all of us, the incomparable David Attenborough narrates a major new series on this incredible planet of ours.

The eight-part Our Planet, made in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), took four years to film and takes in 50 countries across all the world’s continents. A crew of over 600 people was involved and the series takes an up-close look at all sorts of natural habitats, from the frozen Arctic to the lush jungles of South America.

Along with David, whose tones are instantly familiar, there will be a host of local narrators speaking in ten languages. Some well-known names are featured, including Mexican actress, Salma Hayek and Spanish actress Penélope Cruz.

Our Planet transcends borders to deliver an inspiring message of wonder, respect and care for our natural world,” Salma said. “I’m honoured to work with Netflix to help bring the series to those in my home country of Mexico, and to a Spanish-language audience throughout Latin America and the rest of the globe.”

The series features never-before-seen footage of wildlife and, along with the Netflix show, behind-the-scenes content will also be available.

Along with incredible scenes of habitats and wildlife, the programme will also draw attention to what we, as residents of Earth, need to do to persevere it and all its inhabitants.

“All across our planet, crucial connections are being disrupted,” David Attenborough notes. “What we do in the next 20 years will determine the future for all life on Earth.”

Our Planet is available on Netflix from 5 April 2019.
